Can you believe we have layers of lashes? And even more mind blowing that we can change the look of our sets by lashing the layers accordingly. Focusing on lashing each layer not only makes our sets totally custom, but also seamless. It will set you apart in the industry!  In most cases, there are three lash layers: top, middle, and bottom. Using different lengths, different diameters, and different fan widths will determine the look of the finished eyelashes. Here’s a few examples of styles plus a few tips for lashing those layers.

Dark Lash LineFocus on the bottom layer of lashes and use dense, short fans to create the eyeliner look.

FLUFFThe opposite of creating a dark lash line—use dense, short fans on the top layer to create fluff. With each layer increase length and decrease fan size.

TextureUse a variety of lengths and widths including un-fanned lashes or classic lashes for peaks. Use dense fans in the middle layer with added peaks, dense fans on the bottom layer, and mid fans on the top layer.

TIPS FOR LASH LAYERING

1. Tape is your friend! Expose those lash layers.

2. Place your lash extension underneath the natural lash for the top layer and on top of the natural lash for the bottom layer.

3. Write out your plan to avoid confusion and save the information for their future appointments.

4. Make sure you are positioned correctly to get the placement just right for those hard to reach bottom layers.

5. Practice on live models! Nothing mimics real lash layers like the real thing.
