Seasonal allergies and eyelash extensions
SEASONAL ALLERGIES & EYELASH EXTENSIONS
It is the season of allergies, so we are talking all things allergies and extensions. Tips for the lash artist, recommendations for the clients, and overall ways to maintain good retention while dealing with irritating allergies.
FOR THE LASH ARTIST
Keep a Clean Space
Allergies can be made worse with irritants like dust. Keep your space clean and dust free by regularly cleaning.
No Fresh Air
It is likely that whatever is causing the allergies is outside in the air, so close outside windows and doors during appointments. You could even consider an air purifier.
Mist & Fan
I love the nano mister for every appointment but it’s especially important if your client deals with allergy symptoms like watery eyes. You want to cure the adhesive with the nano mister before your client leaves. A fan is a great way to give your client’s eyes some relief—during and after the appointment.
FOR THE CLIENT
No Touching
I know that one of the most irritating allergy symptoms is itchy and watery eyes but clients need to avoid touching the lashes and the lash line. Our natural oil is not good for retention and rubbing can rip out natural lashes or cause lashes to get tangled. For some relief, try a cold towel gently laid over the eyes or brushing your lashes with an eyelash brush.
Take Medicine
Allergy medicine can be heaven sent when it comes to keeping symptoms under control. Use as recommended, but especially on appointment days!
Schedule Accordingly & Cleanse
Clients may want to bump up the frequency of their appointments during allergy season. After care always, but it can be a game changer when dealing with allergies. Something about a clean lash line brings relief to otherwise irritated eyes.
