New Year, New Goals
‘Tis the season for resolutions and new beginnings! AND we're approaching a whole new decade so what better time than now. I’m all about setting goals and I love the refreshing feeling of a new year. Whether your goals are personal or business related I’ve got tips for you!
Make it officialWrite down your goals, put it into your calendar, tell other people, but whatever you do make it official. Writing down your goals and sharing them with others will keep you focused and hold you accountable, plus there is an actual science behind writing down your goals!
Plan of actionAlong with making your goals official, write out a plan of action and ACT. Start by making small actions that lead up to the main goal. I have a goal of “being more active on social media” and my plan of action includes setting aside time everyday, plan out posts weekly, and respond to messages daily. If you have a long term goal, write out some small short term goals that you need to do prior to reaching the long term goal.
See it to believe itVisualize your dream life! Someone taught me this business tip and I’ve loved the concept. You can meditate, journal, create a vision board, or whatever works for you to be able to see those goals become a reality.
Be consistent Consistency applies to every kind of goal-- You have to be consistent to see results! I know for me I see a greater amount of viewers and engagement on my business page when I consistently post or I see improvement in my skin when I consistently apply my skin care routine, or my laundry is manageable when I set a consistent routine. Consistency is key!
Forgive but don’t forgetThis one is huge when it comes to success! Give yourself grace, don’t beat yourself up if you “fail” or have a setback. Recognize the action and move on but do. not. give. up. It’s important to have realistic expectations when it comes to your goals. It helps me to take baby steps to create habits and then expand on those habits. One thing that I have had to work on greatly is not waiting for the next “Monday” or “new month” just because I hopped off the bandwagon for a minute. Instead of saying I missed the gym this morning I’ll go tomorrow I say I missed the gym, but I’ll go in between clients or after work even though it’s more inconvenient.
Don’t forget about YOUYour goals will mean nothing if you have to put so many important things on the backburner to get to them. I’m talking about balance and self-care! I love the idea that you cannot pour from an empty cup so remember to fill your own cup too! I have a lot of business related goals this year but also some personal goals that I think will make my business goals even more attainable.
