LASH ARTISTS SUPPORTING LASH ARTISTS
Lash artists can be very independent when it comes to business—It can feel like it’s just us and our clients. However, that doesn’t mean we don’t need support, allies, and a community. Networking and supporting others in the industry is so important. Here’s a few ways you can start growing your professional relationships!
Make Internet Friends
The internet and social media has made networking almost too easy. I’ve noticed that what goes around comes around on social media, so start following, liking, and commenting on fellow lash artists’ post. Don’t stop there, connect with other businesses and professionals that you could mutually benefit from. You never know when it’ll pay to know someone.
Find Local Lash Artists
Connecting with other lash artists from all around is so fun but I can’t recommend building relationships with lash artists in your area enough. If not just for your own personal lash appointments, but to have a lash artist you could trust with your clients. Search google, Instagram, Facebook, ask people where they get their lashes done, reach out to salons, join local groups, etc. This is so beneficial if you need to refer clients out or vice versa, in the case of maternity leave, emergencies, or just needing extra help with clients. I love the saying, “collaboration not competition.”
Join Support Groups
There’s a Facebook group for everything these days, including lash artists! These groups are great for asking questions, looking for recommendations, finding local artists, and feeling like your in a community. I’ll add that the information on these pages can be Wikipedia-style and inaccurate but nevertheless it’s still a great way to connect and get your name out there.
Attend Events!
With everything being virtual these days it’s easy to forget about real life, in person events. Think beauty shows, education classes, and general networking gatherings. There’s something real classic about a handshake and exchanging business cards.
