5 Ways to Make your Adhesive Last
We ask a lot of our adhesives—give us good retention, don’t cause reactions, stay fresh, give me the most bang for my buck, and so on. We have to take care of our adhesives so that it can take care of us. Here are 5 tips to take care of your adhesive and make it last!
1. Know its Shelf Life We at Lash Essential recommend our adhesives be replaced every 4-6 weeks once opened.
2. Proper Storage is KeyThis is a two part tip: first, always keep your adhesive upright and not upside down, on its side, or jiggling around in a drawer somewhere. Second, store your adhesive in the bag it comes in with the silica pack OR in our airtight adhesive container.
3. Wipe it Clean--AlwaysWipe the adhesive nozzle clean after every single use—no exceptions! AND equally as important, use a makeup sponge or a lint free wipe because adhesive (cyanoacrylate) will react with cotton, wool, and other fibers by creating dangerous heat.
4. Weather Permitting Keep your adhesive out of extreme heat or cold because extreme temperatures in either direction may alter the adhesive’s performance. I live in a place with drastic temperatures so something that I take note of is shipping times and I always choose the fastest option!
5. Let Gravity do the Work When dispensing a drop of glue hold the bottle upside down and let the adhesive drop out without squeezing to prevent air from getting back into the bottle.
