WHAT OUR FILLS ARE TELLING US
We’ve given our clients a beautiful full set and have sent them on their way, but it’s not all downhill from there. Returning fill appointments are very telling and a good opportunity to evaluate our own work. Wether it’s satisfactory or there’s room for improvement, here’s what our fills are telling us.
Retention
When our clients return for fills we can see the overall general retention right away. Take note of the retention per client to give yourself an idea of their average returning retention.
Adhesive Levels
Along with retention, we will be able to see if we used too much adhesive or too little. If you’ve used too much adhesive there will be potential stickies, adhesive build up, and the lashes will be difficult to remove . If you have used too little adhesive it will reflect with poor retention and complaints of lashes “falling off” without a natural lash.
Isolation
At the beginning of each fill I separate the lashes and remove any that are grown out. This is when you can evaluate your isolation. You should be able to easily separate individual eyelashes. If you are seeing lashes stuck to each other try to focus more on isolating.
Connection
The eyelash extension needs to be connected at the base of the natural lash. This one is harder to see initially but will be clearly seen after the lashes have grown between fills. If the lashes are not connected at the base you will see lifting, poor retention, and can be irritating to the client’s eye.
After Care
Fills are great for showing us our work but they are also very telling when it comes to client after care. You will know if your client needs a refresher on proper aftercare. If they are claiming to be taking care of their lashes take pictures so they can see what you are talking about.
