WHAT, WHEN, WHY, HOW: MINI FILLS
We’re covering all things “mini fill” this week in a new blog series: what, when, why, and how! What is a mini fill? When are fills considered mini? Why should we offer mini fills? And how do mini fills differ from a normal fill appointment?
WHAT: Mini Fill
A mini fill is essentially an appointment that is scheduled sooner than a standard fill. For me, mini fills are one week fills and I schedule less time because of it. You could also consider an appointment scheduled for less time, regardless of time and retention, as a mini fill.
WHEN: When is a fill considered mini?
If offering mini fills is something you’d like to consider, the timing and rules are up to you, the artist. Like I said previously, for me mini fills are one week or less.
WHY: Why would a client want/need a mini fill? Why are they beneficial?
The instances in which a client would schedule a mini fill vary but most often it is because 1. A special occasion or vacation and 2. Scheduling didn’t work out otherwise. I don’t offer clients mini fills as a standard reoccurring appointment but more as an exception. A mini fill for a special occasion ensures the client is going to have the best lashes possible and a mini fill because of scheduling is going to prevent clients from extending their time between appointments.
HOW: How does a mini fill differ from a standard fill?
During a mini fill, the order of operations is the same as any fill however you are likely working with fuller retention and a shorter time frame. A good tip is to not skimp on the removal of grown out lashes because in theory some of the extensions will be going longer between fills. My personal preference is to charge less for a mini fill so I keep the time frame shorter. The mini fill is like a boost to get the client through their event, vacation, or schedule conflict and then schedule normal going forward.
