10 WAYS TO BOOST YOUR INSTAGRAM ENGAGEMENT
It can be your best friend or your worst enemy, it’s a job in and of itself, and its possibilities are endless. What am I talking about? INSTAGRAM. Instagram is a valuable tool when it comes to building a business. If you’ve been on Instagram for any amount of time you know it is ever changing and hard to keep up with. Whether your goal is to grow a following or build a clientele it is all about engagement. You need followers, viewers, and potential clients to be engaged with your content in order to reach a larger audience and to even be seen at all. Gone are the days of chronological timelines, so say hello to the days of following Instagram’s algorithm. We know the algorithm loves engagement so that is what today’s post is all about—boosting your engagement!
Show your Face
It might be pleasing to the eye to only post pretty pictures and well designed graphics, but that is not what “sells.” Show your face on your feed and in your stories! Give your followers a face behind the posts. This allows people to connect with YOU not just your content.
Know your Audience
Speaking of followers, figure out who your posts are attracting. Is it potential clients, is it fellow lash artists, or is it your mom? Make sure your posts align with who you want your target market to be.
Stories, Stories, Stories
Remember when Instagram stories felt like a snap chat knock off? Well now they are all the rage! It is common for viewers to tap through stories over scrolling through a feed. Use this to your advantage and post on those stories! And even better if you use “stickers” that get your followers interacting with your stories.
Right Time
You can actually track when your posts are more successful, as in what days of the week and what times of day. Use this knowledge and post when your engagement is highest because Instagram loves posts that create a lot of traction in a short amount of time.
Interaction
If you want your followers to engage with your posts you have to reciprocate. Comment and like on their posts, reply to comments left on your posts, and post in a way that requires interaction such as asking a question.
Hashtags
Hashtags have been around since the beginning of Instagram and they aren’t going anywhere! Use them! Figure out which hashtags are generating views, use hashtags specific to your area, and use a hashtag unique to your brand.
NEW FEATURES
Like I said before, Instagram is ever changing and updating. They are coming out with new features faster than I can learn them BUT Instagram “rewards” users for using new features and it’s a great way to boost your content. Hello Instagram reels!
Saving and Sharing
It’s like Rock Paper Scissors where likes and comments are paper and saves and shares are scissors. Paper still beats rock but loses to scissors. Likes and comments are good for your engagement but if your followers are saving or sharing your post—even better!
Post Consistently
This is going to sound like a broken record, but posting consistently is the only way to stay afloat in the sea of Instagram’s algorithm. Ideally you should be posting every single day on your feed and 2-3 separate stories a day. This is going to help your engagement the most because your posts are more likely to be seen.
Connect to Facebook
I know this post is all about boosting engagement on Instagram, but connecting your instagram to a Facebook account will do just that. Facebook owns Instagram so they are under the same umbrella, but by posting to both you are reaching more people!
