PHOTOGRAPHY FOR THE LASH ARTIST
Photography for the lash artist! We take photos as a first impression, to share on social media, build our portfolios, measure our growth, and get new clients! So it only feels right to share some simple adjustments to make our work stand out.
Focus
I’m all about using our phone’s camera for my client photos. It’s quick, simple, and convenient. Our phones cameras are made to auto focus and while that is usually enough sometimes it’s not. Always pay attention to the focus because unfocused pictures will not translate well. It helps to remove background objects that the camera could be focusing on.
Background
When taking pictures of our clients it’s important that their eyelashes and/or their face is the main focal point. Avoid having a distracting background, lots of blurred objects, or colors that are not cohesive to your brand. There’s a fancy grid tool on our phone’s camera that makes it easy to have a well proportioned and aligned photo.
Exposure
Exposure is not light it is brightness and darkness. We want a good balance because we want our work to reflect realistically but also be easy on eyes. Again, our phone camera has a built in adjuster so don’t be afraid to mess with the settings.
Lighting
Everyone loves good lighting when getting their pictures taken and it really can make or break the finished product. Invest in good lighting! If your work space has natural light that is the best way to get an accurate depiction. The key with lighting is to not mix our working lights with natural light—use one or the other.
