DO’S & DONT’S: NANO MISTING
It cures the lashes, reduces irritation, keeps the lashes hydrated, and is the finishing touch to a good appointment—it’s the nano mister! In order to use the nano mister to the best of its ability there are some do’s and don’ts to follow!
DO use distilled water
Distilled water is safe on the eyelashes, and helps to keep the nano mister clean and running.
DON’T use tap water
You don’t want to use tap water or any other liquid in the mister for client use. Anything other than distilled water will cause build up and the nano mister will not work properly.
DO keep your distance
When using the nano mister keep at least 6” of space between the mister and the lashes. You want the mist to be very faint when it hits the lashes. We are adding moisture not wetting the lashes!
DON’T get too close
Using the mister too close to the lash line can cause water to pool onto the lashes adding too much moisture. Too much water on the lashes can shock cure the adhesive and cause “blooming”
DO go back and forth
For the same reason we keep the mister at a distance, you want to use a sweeping motion to go back and forth covering both eyes. This is going to help evenly distribute the mist.
DON’T focus on one area
When using the mister you want to keep it in motion and not hold the mist in one area. The mist comes out very fine but it can quickly cause water drops if held over one area.
DO explain to your clients
It’s good practice to narrate what you’re doing when working with clients that have their eyes closed to prevent any jump scare. When doing a first time client I give them a heads up that a mist is coming and what it does!
DON’T be afraid to use more than once
The nano mister is my favorite way to finish an appointment but it is a great tool to use during an appointment too! If you have a client that is more sensitive, if your client has to open their eyes for something, or if you are working in low humidity.
DO empty the tank
Empty the tank often and let everything dry while disassembled. This will ensure that your clients are getting fresh water everyday and will prevent a mildew smell.
DON’T leave the tank full
Leaving “standing water” in the tank for long periods of time without use can give the water a dirty smell that will translate when you use the mister. I recommend emptying the tank at the end of each day!
DO clean as needed
You can run vinegar or alcohol through the mister followed by a couple cycles of distilled water to keep everything clean and clog free.
