Taking a Lash Break
There is an outdated lash myth that says, you should give your lashes “a break” every once in a while. But that is just that—outdated and inaccurate! However, even as die hard eyelash extension lovers, we understand that eyelash extensions are a luxury service and that sometimes life happens. It could be for medical reasons, finances, or just personal choice, if you find yourself taking an eyelash break we’ve got advice for you!
Professional Removal
I cannot preach this enough— Do not remove eyelash extensions yourself! Get the extensions professionally removed or let them naturally grow out. DIY removal can cause permanent damage and removal products are dangerous to use on yourself. Getting the extensions removed properly is going to make the extension-free transition easier!
Serums & Supplements
If you are looking for longer, thicker, and healthier lashes to ease the pain of not wearing extensions use a serum and consider adding the appropriate supplements to your regime. You’re not competing with lash fills so fast growing lashes are not a problem.
Don’t Panic
This might be my number one piece of advice as someone who has taken a lash break, don’t panic! It is easy to feel like you have no lashes, your lashes are short and thin, and your face will never be the same (dramatic, I know). In reality, you get accustomed to your eyelashes looking a certain way and the comparison does make it seem like your natural lashes are not there. Give it a few days or weeks and you will recognize yourself again.
Trust your Artist
Lash health is the number one reason to see a reputable lash artist. If your lashes are correctly applied then there is no “lash safety” reason to take a break. You do not need a reset, your lashes do not need to recover, and you don’t need to wait a growth cycle. In addition to correctly applied extensions, your natural lashes will be healthy if you do take a break!
Enjoy the Break
If you find yourself in the *unfortunate* situation that is a lash break, you might as well enjoy it. Rub those eyes, sleep on your face, try that new makeup look, and remember that eyelash extensions are only one appointment away.
