COLD WEATHER TIPS FOR THE LASH ARTIST
The season change means colder temperatures, dry air, and low humidity— all things that can a affect our adhesive and in return affect our retention. Being aware of these changes is the first step and knowing how to combat them is what we’re talking about today!
Use a Hygrometer
Information is key and that’s exactly what a hygrometer provides. It’s one thing to assume the temperate and humidity changes but it’s another to actually know! A hygrometer tells you the temperature and relative humidity. Knowing this information makes it easier to find a solution.
Add Humidity
In general, colder temperatures dry out the air which drops the humidity. The best way to best the dry air? Add the humidity yourself. Using a humidifier is a simple fix and also a great tool all year— our adhesives need moisture!
Avoid Space Heaters
Like I said, everything dries out this time of year and although the temperature drops, you do not want to dry out the air more than necessary. Avoid space heaters too close to your work environment.
Use the Correct Adhesive
Because our adhesives perform best when in perfect conditions our adhesive may cure slower when those conditions have changed. You may need to work a little slower, hold that lash on a little longer, or switch to a quicker curing adhesive all together!
Separate Stickies
We hate stickies no matter the season, but I emphasize separating each lash before you finish the appointment because you may experience an increase of lashes stuck together. This is again because our adhesive is curing just a little bit slower.
Curing is Key
Slower curing adhesive doesn’t only mean more stickies but also a potential for more fumes. Your nano mister is your best friend! Cure those lashes extra good, they will love the moisture!
