THE LASH ARTIST’S GUIDE TO PREPARING FOR THE HOLIDAYS
The holidays are right around the corner, if not here already! Clients want fresh lashes for all the party occasions, holiday cards, family pictures, and everything else the end of the year offers. Along with a heavier workload, life is generally busier this time of year. Here’s a few things to consider this holiday season to ensure survival!
REITERATE POLICIES
If you have policies and boundaries in place (which you should!) It is a good time to reiterate those policies to your clients. ‘Tis the season for clients asking for extra appointments, reschedules, and exceptions. Make sure if you are granting exceptions, it is on your terms. It’s the end of the year and we don’t want to be burned out. Speaking of policies, remind your clients of your sick policy. If you live somewhere where the holidays are also winter you will likely encounter sick clients. Remind your clients that rescheduling one sick client is easier than rescheduling a whole week’s worth.
PLAN OFF DAYS
If you want any days off, including the day of a holiday, you must take it off yourself. In our industry, no one is handing out schedules with pre marked days off, it’s up to us to plan ahead. And that is exactly my advice—plan! If you can plan ahead it makes rescheduling clients easy. Planning ahead personal days also ensures that you will get to enjoy your season and again, avoid burnout!
RESCHEDULE X3
I always always reschedule my clients at the end of each appointment, but during the busy season I highly recommend rescheduling 2-3 appointments out. There are roughly 7 weeks left in the year and in eyelash appointments that is only 2-3 reschedules! Schedule out the rest of your year and check one more thing off the end of the year to do list!
STOCK UP
In the middle of the hustle and bustle, you do not want to come up short handed. Evaluate your inventory and order enough products to last you until the new year. Everything about surviving the holidays is about being prepared and minimizing the stress.
ENJOY
Don’t forget that it’s “The most magical time of the year” and to actually enjoy it. Prepare what you can, plan in advance, but work within your boundaries and celebrate another year of lashing down!
