FOR THE CLIENT: CLASSIC VS. VOLUME
For lash artists terms like “classic” and “volume” are simple, but to a new client it might be overwhelming. This post is to help you as the lash artist educate your clients—specifically new clients! Whether you are communicating with a potential client or you’re performing a consultation with a first time client it is important to know how to simply and effectively explain the difference between classic and volume lashes. Give your clients the basic differences, describe the results of the finished looks, explain any pros and cons, and make a recommendation based on the state of their natural lashes. Below is a short and sweet breakdown of the different lash styles.
Classic
One eyelash extension applied to one natural lash.
Great for added length or a natural look.
Typically less expensive than volume.
I love to recommend classic extensions to my younger clients.
Volume
Two to six eyelash extensions are placed on one natural lash in a fan shape.
Volume lashes are lighter, fluffier, and fuller than classic lashes.
Perfect for clients who don’t have a lot of natural lashes, have sparse lashes or bald spots.
Great for creating natural or dramatic looks.
Volume lashes are growing rapidly in popularity.
Hybrid
A mix of both classic and volume lashes.
Hybrid lashes can be used to create a variety of looks.
Great alternative for clients that are unsure of which style to choose.
When explaining the differences to potential clients one of my favorite things to do is to show them/send them pictures of all of the options and also explain any differences in pricing. Also remember that you are the expert and they will value your advice! I know that it is easy to assume everyone understands lash lingo, so I hope this helps you and your clients!
