Full Sets 101
Due to a consistently booked schedule I rarely see a full set or new client on my books, but recently I took on a new client needing a full set and it got me thinking about those few extra steps that differ from my regular fill clients. It’s comfortable with my current clients because they know my salon environment and they know the routine so there’s little instruction to be had. When a new client walks in the door there’s a few bases I like to hit! That’s exactly what we’re talking about today—full set 101.
Meet & Greet
I always take the extra step of greeting my new clients at the door and introducing myself and showing them where we’ll be for the appointment. By their second appointment they are comfortable enough to know where to go.
Consultation + Review
Obviously consultation is key and even more so when it’s a new client and/or a full set. If we’ve communicated at all prior to their appointment I like to review everything and make sure we’re on the same page.
Instructions
As lash artists it’s easy to assume everyone knows “what to do” during the appointment because we are so familiar with the routine. During a full set appointment it’s important to remember that your client might not know even the basic steps of lying on the bed. I also instruct new clients of where to put their things, where to place their head, which side to lay their hair out on, etc. I also give my new clients a small play by play of what I’m doing such as, “I’m going to place these under eye pads on your bottom lashes so I’ll have you keep your eyes open.” Giving them the steps of what your doing will make them feel comfortable.
Before Pictures!!
Pictures are not just for full sets BUT I love getting a true before and after shot so it’s important to take the time to get pictures—especially before.
After Care
Every client should know about after care but I really get into with my new full set clients. I cover all the bases about cleansing, makeup, rubbing, sleeping, etc. This isn’t something I go over at every appointment so it’s important to set them up for success right from the beginning.
