FOR THE CLIENT: LASH ARTIST RED FLAGS
As lash artists, we want clients to choose reputable lash artists. Finding the right lash artist is not only important for our client’s lash health but also for the reputation of the industry. We want inquiring clients to be educated about lash artist red flags and we want clients who are seeing the wrong artist to find the right one!
No License
Depending on the state, lash artists may be required to obtain certain licensing. Always recommend that clients find licensed artists by searching the state’s directory or asking the artist directly. If a lash artist is not legally licensed it is a red flag!
Pain/Irritation
Eyelash extensions should not be a painful service. It’s possible to feel a quick discomfort or irritation but it’s important to note if the pain is consistent throughout the appointment or if the irritation does not subside. If the eyes are feeling “sore” after the appointment it may be time to reevaluate.
Quick
Speed can be relative but if the artist is new and completing full sets in 30 minutes it is a red flag. The artist should be taking enough time to remove grown out lashes and properly work through the entire lash line.
Can’t Brush Through
If the lashes look good but you cannot brush the lashes continuously from the lash line to the end of the eyelash, something is wrong. It is a red flag if the lash artist is not isolating the eyelashes! This one is huge for long term lash health.
Comes Out in Clumps
When the lashes shed or fall off, look at the eyelashes and check the work. Are multiple lashes coming off, Is the natural lash coming off every time, are multiple natural lashes stuck together? Shedding is normal, clumping is not.
Cleanliness
The lash artist’s space can be a good indication of the overall cleanliness of the application. Find a lash artist with a clean set up, clean tools, and clean environment.
No Photos
When searching for a lash artist it is import and that they have photos to review. If they are not found on social media, at the least ask if they have photos to send. In these times of technology, you should always be able to see the lash artist’s work beforehand.
